A dachshund or pug pun can already feel personal. Adding a name is useful when it makes the pen more clearly theirs, not when it competes with the main joke.
Let the printed design do its work
The two dog designs are distinctive: Dachshund Through the Snow uses a festive sausage-dog pun and Bah Humpug plays on a grumpy pug expression. If the recipient would get the joke instantly, you don’t need a second witty message crammed beside it. A first name or familiar nickname is often enough.
Check the variation rather than assuming
The exported variable products include Add Name and No Name options. That doesn’t mean every print area has unlimited space. Look at the current product options, check orientation where offered and make sure the name is spelt correctly. You can also choose the classic plastic pen or cased metal gift set.
Keep these points in mind
- Put the joke first and keep extra wording short.
- Use the recipient’s preferred name, not an embarrassing nickname.
- Double-check which variation is in your basket.

Is a No Name dog pen still a personalised gift?
It’s a design-specific novelty pen rather than a name-personalised one. If the joke directly reflects the recipient, it may still feel very thoughtfully chosen.
Personalisation works best when it adds recognition without making a tiny design harder to read.
